June is Cancer Survivor Awareness Month

Posted about 3 years ago

NYSSPA & NJSSPA members,

This year, NYSSPA & NJSSPA have been co-hosting a monthly CME webinar series on cancer related topics and are recruiting speakers to share their knowledge and expertise with their fellow PA's.  June is National Cancer Survivor Awareness Month and we are seeking a special type of expertise - the wisdom gained from being both a PA and a cancer survivor.  We believe those who have experience as both a provider and as a patient have a unique & special set of knowledge and are reaching out to ask if anyone would be willing to share.

We are currently seeking 2-3 speakers to volunteer to speak at our June CME webinar.  Although the date is not finalized, lectures are usually given in the evening during the 3rd or 4th week of the month. The presentation would be 45 minutes followed by a 15-minute Q&A session. The lecture will be submitted to the AAPA for CME approval.  If you are a PA in the state of New York or New Jersey and have also experienced being a patient and surviving cancer, we would love to learn from your experiences.

Please contact Michael Maglione, Chair of Professional Education at NYSSPA via email at professionaleducation@nysspa.org if you are interested and willing to help educate fellow PA’s on the lessons you’ve learned in your experience as a provider, patient, and cancer survivor.

Thank you.
